Windsor Garter Ceremony

An event with more pomp and ceremony I could not imagine! This yearly event is held inside the Castle walls and, although free, is a ticket only event. You must apply for tickets in advance every year and getting tickets is never guaranteed.

The Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded in 1348 by Edward III and is the only actual honour that the Queen can give to anyone that only she has a hand in deciding. All other awards like CBE's and OBE's are all political awards and although given by the Queen they are decided upon by politicians. The Order of the Garter is strictly decide upon by the queen.

The Order consists of Her Majesty The Queen who is Sovereign of the Order, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and 24 Knights Companions.

I have no idea of this chaps rank, but believe me, no one was messing with him. He gave an order and people moved in a hurry!
