Situated in the historic village of Wraysbury in the Royal county of Berkshire. Splash Mill was named after the ford running through the village - now a quaint duck pond with a small stream running along the back of the Mill. Ducks and the occasional swan regularly sail past the windows……..
Although the Mill is a relatively modern structure the timbers that form it date from The Napoleonic Wars and came from Tilbury Docks. The internal staircases are over 200 years old!
Furnishing this octagonal building has been challenging but fun.
The Windmill is regularly used for film shoots and has featured in several magazine and newspaper articles. The most recent of these was in “House Beautiful” magazine in July 2004.
It was subject to a “makeover” in September 2004 which was screened on Granada Television’s “60 Minute Makeover” programme in February 2005. A video of this programme is available for guests to watch. It is well known as a landmark by pilots travelling to Heathrow Airport which is 5 miles away.
Considerable refurbishing has taken place since then and the Windmill is now a romantic and totally unique place to stay.
